Hong Kong Pools

Hong Kong is home to a variety of pristine swimming pools perched on the rooftops of some of the city’s highest-rise buildings. These hotspots not only provide stunning views of the skyline, but also serve as an ideal spot for a cool dip on a sunny day.

The city’s most popular pools include the glistening and inviting Victoria Peak Pool, which offers stunning views of Hong Kong Island and Victoria Harbour from its main pool. Its whirlpool and lazy river are especially popular among families with kids. The Peninsula, another luxury hotel in the city, also has an impressive pool, which is reminiscent of the Roman-inspired architecture of its rooms. This palatial-style pool features statuesque columns and a lavish setting to help visitors relax in the middle of the city.

The Ma On Shan Swimming Complex is another pool worth checking out, as it boasts a spacious main pool accompanied by spectator stands that can accommodate up to 1,200 people. The pool also houses smaller training and leisure pools as well as two waterslides that are some of the world’s fastest. The Hammer Hill Road Pool is another notable one, which features a pirate ship that is fitted with water cannons for kids to enjoy.

Despite the recent spate of water contamination incidents, many of the city’s top-notch swimming hotspots remain open for business. Tang told the press that on Thursday, 14 of the city’s public pools were open, although some facilities — primarily leisure pools and paddling pools — were closed for cleaning. He advised citizens to visit the websites of their favourite pools or call their customer service centres for up-to-date information before heading to a particular location.

Those looking to avoid the crowds can head to the Tai Wan Shan Pool for some peace and quiet, as it is surrounded by lush greenery, making it a great place to unwind. With a main pool, a teaching pool, and an outdoor leisure pool, it can cater to all types of swimmers. Its unique location also provides great sunset views over Victoria Harbour. Moreover, the pool is equipped with ample lounge chairs and Jacuzzis for guests to relax on.
