HONG KONG–Trading volume in Hong Kong’s opaque privately owned exchanges rose in April but still remains below the levels of last year, according to official data released on Friday. The number of stocks traded increased by a record 11.7 percent to 3,669 million shares, with most of the gains attributed to the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX), which reported a 19.1 percent rise in trading volumes to 778 million shares.

The HKEX accounted for a record 40 percent of the total trading volume, and the rest came from the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK). The broader Hang Seng index also saw an increase in value, up 9.8 percent to 29,625 points, led by banks and property companies. The CSI 300 index, however, saw a sharp drop of 17.8 percent to close down at 4,977.

Perched on the 118th floor of one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers, the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong’s swimming pool is the most impressive in the city, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a stunning view of the city below. Lounge chairs and Jacuzzis positioned next to the windows invite guests to sit back, relax and enjoy the panoramic view of Hong Kong Island. LCD screens on the walls and ceiling display images of tropical fishes, clouds and beach scenes.

The outdoor pool at the ultra-luxe Asaya is another must-visit for swimming fans. Exclusive to hotel guests, the 25-metre pool overlooks the city’s skyline from dawn until dusk. Besides soaking up the sun, you can also order from a menu of light meals and drinks, including Alaskan King Crab Rolls, Strawberry Mirlitons and champagne cocktails. You can even earn bonus Asia Miles when you book a stay at the hotel this summer.
