Maria is a former athlete, who got tired of getting injured and found relief through yoga. She got her 220 RYT certification in 2011 and started out teaching all kinds of yoga formats, but has then concentrated her efforts in teaching a class Decatur Yoga calls Yoga Strength. Maria says it is a mindful form of strength training that makes you stronger not only for your yoga classes, but for all of life’s physical challenges. The class is very much an all-levels one, and many of the exercises are performed as body weight training. Maria is a Certified Personal Trainer and teaches Group Exercise classes at The Gym.
