Heather Wurtzel

Heather’s love affair with yoga began in 2002 when she was expecting her first child.  She discovered yoga’s tremendous benefits as her practice brought her comfort and relief, both physically and emotionally.  She also experienced through yoga a deeper connection with her baby and found yoga to be instrumental in helping her develop confidence in her changing body as she prepared for labor and birth.  During her second pregnancy in 2004, Heather explored her personal dedication to sharing the gift of yoga with other pregnant mamas.

She began her study with Margaret Pierce and started teaching pre-natal yoga at the Pierce Yoga Program in 2005. In 2008 she completed a 200-hr Classical Yoga Teacher Training at Kashi Atlanta under the guidance of Swami Jaya Devi. Heather became a certified in pre- and post-natal yoga teacher through Stephanie Keach in 2010.  She continued to pursue her training by completing both level 1 (2012) and level 2 (2013) Pranakriya pre- and post-natal yoga training with Jacci Reynolds Gruninger. Additionally, she is a Yoga-Born childbirth educator.

Heather’s teaching experience includes a six-year tenure teaching two weekly pre-natal yoga classes at Decatur Yoga and Pilates as well as an instructor in the PE department at Georgia Perimeter College.  Heather also enjoys teaching kids yoga at The Friends School of Atlanta where her now twelve- and ten-year-old children are middle-school students. She is currently pursuing her 500-hr yoga certification in the Pranakriya Yoga tradition.
