Pilates Mat 1

Description:

This class is for those who have taken at least one Basics class and are ready to move on to a Beginner Pilates Mat class.  In this class you will build on the fundamentals from Basics, and begin to work on the flow of exercises to gain strength, flexibility, and coordination.   Plan to stay at the Mat 1 level for quite a while—several months or longer. 

 

All Pilates classes last 55 minutes. Please bring a yoga mat. All levels of Pilates classes may use of props either to make an exercise easier, increase the challenge, or to add variety. We provide the props which may include free weights, magic circles, foam rollers, therabands, and gym balls.  Pilates is a progressive system, so what you learn in basics will be built upon in Level 1, and what you learn in Level 1 will be built upon in higher levels.  Each level is progressively more challenging and faster-paced.  Proficiency at one level is required before moving to the next level.
