New to Yoga

Namaste (Pronunciation: Nah-mah-stay):
Namaste is a HIndu greeting that means "I bow (reverentially) to you." Another interpretation: The good, the beauty, the light in me, sees the good, the beauty, the light in you. When spoken to another person, it is commonly accompanied by a slight bow made with hands pressed together, palms touching and fingers pointed upwards, in front of the chest. This gesture, called Añjali Mudra?, can also be performed wordlessly and carries the same meaning.

Tips for your first class:

* Arrive Early. Be in the studio early enough to be on your mat before class begins. Classes begin promptly. Late arrivals are discouraged. We have a strict policy of not allowing anyone to enter class more than 5 minutes late.

* Be Prepared. Either register online or arrive at the studio 20 minutes early to fill out some paperwork and receive an orientation for your first class. For all yoga and Pilates classes, bring a yoga mat and water. For hot classes, also bring a towel. Do not eat at least 2 hours before class. Yoga and Pilates are best experienced on an empty stomach. Hydrate well by drinking water throughout the day. For hot classes, wear lightweight clothing (shorts are preferable and baggy sweats are not recommended). For non-hot yoga and Pilates classes, wear comfortable, non-baggy clothing.
